SWISS-SDR / Learn & get started

OpenWebRX+: Your window into radio.

OpenWebRX makes an SDR receiver available through a web interface. OpenWebRX+ adds further control and analysis features. Which features you can use depends on the equipment at the particular receiving site.

What you see in the browser

The waterfall shows how signals change across frequency and time. First choose a suitable receiving profile, then set the frequency, mode and filter. Publicly accessible devices do not require your own receiving hardware; the operator sets any access restrictions.

What the Plus version adds

The project documentation describes features including frequency scanning, audio recording, chat and maps of received data. Digital decoders and additional features require suitable software, computing power and permissions. Their inclusion in OpenWebRX+ does not mean every receiver offers them.

Hardware and antenna matter too

OpenWebRX and OpenWebRX+ can run with different SDR devices. The usable frequency range depends on hardware, the chosen profile and antenna. A broad range of software features does not replace a suitable antenna at the receiving site.

How do I start listening?

Open a Swiss receiver through our directory. In its original interface, choose the profile, frequency and mode, then deliberately start audio there. SWISS-SDR does not open a listening session itself.

Why is a signal hard to hear?

Check the mode, filter and frequency first. Antenna, propagation, local interference and time of day also affect the signal. A web server reported as reachable does not confirm any particular reception quality.
